JEWELRY TRENDS
As we consider the kinds of jewelry today’s consumers want to
buy (or make), it’s important to take a look at the hottest trends in this
marketplace.
-
Magnetic necklaces and bracelets are very versatile.
These items can be found at some of the most trendy boutiques throughout the
country. The beads are actually magnetic and allow the user to create many
different looks simply by connecting the beads in multiple sections.
-
Wood beads are seen in all of the high-end department
stores. Mostly used in necklaces, shades vary from light to dark and the
dimension of the wood beads range from an 8-mm. To a 12-mm. ball.
-
Pearls with crystals are all the rage. Single-or
multi-strand with medium-sized pearls and crystal roundels are sure to dress
up any pair of jeans.
-
Shells are clearly the big winner this summer and fall
in both jewelry design and home decorating. Shells are used in necklaces and
bracelets and are usually shaped in an oblong pendant.
-
Chandelier earrings are on every red carpet and are
further bolstered in popularity by being featured on the must-see television
show of the moment, Desperate Housewives.
-
Hand jewelry fits around wrists like a bracelet and
connects to fingers with an extended piece. This is also available for
ankles and toes. This Eastern-inspired jewelry is very trendy in Hollywood.
-
Large gems in neutral muted colors are being used as
focal beads.
-
Multiple layered necklaces
offer a collaged look. Mix
and match different colors, textures, and sizes of beads, ribbons and charms
to create one-of-a-kind pieces.
-
Silver circles the size of a half dollar have been
extremely popular this year with newscasters, celebrities, and everyday
consumers.
-
Name bracelets in both plastic and high-end beads are
popular again.
-
Stretch bracelets made with gemstones are a look easily
translated to a DIY project.
-
Charm bracelets and decorative key chains
dress up
purses, luggage, shoes, and backpacks.
-
Beaded flip flops are out of control. These sandals can
range from $2.99-$99.99.
-
Designer pet collars with rhinestones and charms get the
furriest family members into the jewelry game.
