Welcome to Guyot Brothers Irregular E-letter
The Filigree Contest is officially concluded! The winner and correct number of filigrees are announced below, but first - some new items
Ah, the value of versatility. In the last e-letter we introduced a new filigree shape, one with a Byzantine influence, and since then we have been experimenting with daps. As you can see by the photo, we came up with some nice variations on the 07935 filigree finding. Of course a photo cannot do justice to the subtle manipulations a dap can give to a stamping. Much of "seeing" an item for jewelry-making includes holding it in your hand, feeling its weight, knowing its exact size. So go ahead and request some samples; give them a try. Imagine the dramatic earrings or necklace centerpiece this will make. Or give it a slight bend and use it on a cuff bracelet. Anything's possible.
Here is another new item for your consideration. Depending on how you see it, it can be a lightweight drop for an earring, with cabochon or without, or as a simple, yet elegant, center or pendant on a necklace. Or use them both in an ensemble. This lovely piece is an offspring of diamond shaped ornament stamping style 06759 .
And now for the contest results!
The correct number of findings that come from the 01276 square filigree is 105. The winning entry came from Jen Purple of Purple Fish Studio. Congratulations, Jen! A one-pound grab bag of filigrees and other decorative metal stampings is on it's way to you.
